|OMG we are STILL moving!
We are still in the process of moving, I'm just taking a short break right now while Mr. G and I wait for reinforcements (er, well, just our friend Warren) to arrive. We finally finished getting everything out of Mr. G's appartment as of September 30th, and only have until October 15th to finish mine... and it looks like we will be running right up to the wire on it as well.
Good news is that the weekend after we finish the "move from hell" (as it shall be known for all eternity) we will be going on a 3 week vacation - including, but not limited to, stops in Anaheim, Santa Cruz, San Jose, San Mateo, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle... and maybe a day jaunt to Canada if they will let us back in the USA with nothing but California driver licenses.
Anyone with suggestions of good places to eat, drink, shop, or take photos please comment. We are especially interested in:
*microbreweries that give tours
*good record stores that focus on punk and/or garage rock
*great resteraunts that don't cost an arm and a leg
*interesting book stores (yeah, Mr. G is going to take me to Powell's)
*bars that have excellent live bands (we support local music, and always want to hear new bands)
*any stores/shops that specialize in the out of the ordinary (pirate stuff, decent sexuality stores like Babeland or Good Vibrations, metaphysical shops, candle shops, really great comics shops, bead stores, etc...)

|Back really soon.... really!
Contrary to my expectations, the wonderful Mr. G and I have found and started moving into a lovely new apartment. Heh. And here I thought this wouldn't come to fruition until 2008!
Anyways, the place is a big 3 bedroom townhouse with an attached garage, and for only $150 more than we were paying for our 2 one-bedroom apartments combined. So now we have our master bedroom, a guest bedroom (for Mr. G's son, or other visitors), and a computer/office/gameroom. The living room has a vaulted ceiling, a gas fireplace, and a small covered balcony. It's all, well, just lovely... and we have tons of room for all the computers, books, DVDs, CDs, and my cats.
We are still finishing up the move, it's taking longer than expected as I did something horrible to my back the other day while moving a large TV. I'm getting better, with friends taking care of the heavy lifting (and the help of some muscle relaxants). So, very soon I am planning to be back on LJ, MySpace, and any other place on the net where people might be looking for me... Current Mood: drained

|Er, still not back yet...
Argh! I so
meant to be back in LJ and fandom in general way before now... and I'm still not back yet.
Yes, I went to Anime Expo and waited in the miserable 3+ hour line to get in, just to buy: some Harry Potter dojinshi, new yaoi manga, a region-free DVD player, and a really great book all slash/boy's love/yaoi/whatever we are calling ourselves today fans should read - Wicked Gentlemen
(look it up on Amazon.com). Yes, I have been playing way too much World of Warcraft lately, but am sadly only up to level 67 on my main character. Yes, I have gone to a few shows to see friend's bands play, sometimes even bringing our new camera and taking a few photos.
No, G and I still haven't found a new apartment - there are many complications right now that are keeping us from doing so. Not all of it is bad, some of our issues are that we are choosing to go to shows, Anime Expo, etc. - instead of looking for new digs. Add planning a trip to Yaoi Con, Portland, and Seattle for October/November, the Order of the Phoenix coming out this week, book 7 coming out on the 20th, and San Diego Comic Con coming up at the end of this month... and it makes me think we probably won't get moved until Christmas/Yule/Hanukkah/whatever winter holiday everyone is celebrating this year. Current Mood: tired

|Did you miss me?
I know, I know... I have been a bad girl and dropped off the face of the internets... sorry.
Some of you probably read my post from October about my grandmother passing away, and this brought about some major changes in my life (surprisingly for the better). Mainly, my on-again/off-again relationship (ongoing for about 15 years now) with my best friend/boyfriend is ON. We are getting along very well and are currently looking for a new apartment with enough room for all our computers, game systems, DVD's and the 2 cats.
So, sounds like I've been busy, right? Well, sort of... What has really sucked away all my time is I have gotten involved in G's hobby - playing World of Warcraft. Dammit. He had been asking me to try playing with him for about a year, but I kept telling him "no" because I was afraid it would take up all my time and that I'd stop writing. Yeah. Looks like I was right...
Anyways, once we get settled into a new home I do plan on returning to the world of fandom (probably sometime in April). But for now, if you play WoW, you can find me on the Scilla server as my Blood Elf rogue - Annbonny.
For the Horde!

I really haven't posted much lately as RL has been giving me a swift kick in the ass lately... so I'd rather talk about stuff and nonsense than the crap that has been keeping me from writing in my journal.
First off, other than lddurham
, is anyone on my f-list going to Yaoi Con? I plan on being there (unless an emergency comes up) and would love to meet with anyone else who is going too.
Next, I'd like to hear from anyone who uses BPAL oils. I have been thinking of ordering them for a while now but have held off as I didn't know quite where to get started. So if there is anyone out there reading this that has a scent or two to recommend to me, fire away. To give you some idea of what sort of fragarance I like, I prefer spicy/woodsy/fruity scents (vanilla, amber, myrrh, cinnamon, clove, sandalwood, carnation, orange blossom, pear, musk, etc.), and my favorite mainstream/commercial perfumes are Opium and Poison.
Last (but not least) I am starting to get in a Halloween mood and am looking for cool seasonal icons. Anyone know where I can find some? (It's not a Halloween thing, but I'd really like an icon of Pugsley from Addams Family Values in his turkey costume, preferably saying "Eat me!") Oh, and does anyone know where I can get the Pumpkin Masters Universal Monsters carving patterns? I think the book came out in 2003, and I can't find it for sale at any of the local stores.
On the subject of Halloween, Target has been getting a large portion of my paycheck this month - their Halloween stuff is to die
for this year! Every year they seem to do their seasonal decor in a particular "theme" and this year's has a Day of the Dead flavor to it, and I am in heaven. I wish I could buy it all! Michaels has some interesting things as well... I had to stop myself from buying the overpriced haunted pirate ship from their Halloween village collection - the boat rocks like it is sailing, plays a sea shanty, and has cool lighting effects (cannon blasts, lightning, etc.) but it just isn't worth the $60 or so they are charging for it. Current Mood: lazy

|George Lucas is a ho
So I was at Wal-Mart today because I wanted to check out their Halloween stuff, and I saw some new Star Wars toys that made my brain hurt: giant robot "transformers" of Han and Chewbacca that change into the Millenium Falcon.
Can someone please
convince Mattel and Lucas to stop taking a giant crap all over my childhood? Current Mood: enraged

|WS Master List
Most of the people on my f-list that will care about this probably already know about it, but...skuf
's Master List of Watersports in HP Fanfic
is now hosted at rain_of_gold
. I'm vey excited to take this list over from skuf
as it was a much appreciated reference when I first joined the fandom and had a hell of a time finding urophilia fics. Please feel free to come by and check out the community, look over the list, and recommend any good golden shower fics - I'm always happy to read new stuff! Current Mood: happy

Written for me and rinsbane
after I was lamenting a lack of Lupin/Pomfrey fic over in Rin's journal, the lovely Here's to You Mrs. Robinson
It's all teen boy wank fantasy, no actual cross-gen (sadly!), but I still found it to be an extremely enjoyable read.
Why are you still reading this? Go read the fic!

Rec-Go-Round: Rec me one story you've written that you're proud of, any genre, here on my LJ.
Then go forth and ask the same in yours.
I saw this on a few journals, and since I finally got over my shyness and recced my beastie fic to the author that cememted my love of that kink (maeglinyedi
), I was bound by the meme rules to partcipate myself. Please, rec me one-shots... or, at least something under 20,000 words. I am a busy girl and I just don't have the time to jump into a bunch of multi-chaptered fics right now.

Anyone feel like giving me some recs for good print
yaio manga? I prefer the 18+ rated stuff, but don't mind 16+ if it's good...
So far I've picked up a few: Love Mode 1, Shinobu Kokoro, Our Everlasting 1, and Legal Drug 1 & 3 (which is implied, not explicit).
It's just a bitch looking through all the manga at Borders when all I really have to go on is the publisher (I know to look for Blu and DMP), and they just sort everything alphabetically by title instead of breaking the manga section down by genre. Current Mood: curious

|V for Vendetta
This is the comment I left in persephone56
's LJ. I had told her I was going to see V after she had left a favorable review of it and she asked to hear what I thought.
The short version: my best friend & I are calling it the best movie of 2006. This might seem odd since it's only March, but I said the same thing when we saw Sin City last year, and I still stand behind that statement. His first statement after the film was over was that he couldn't wait for the DVD, and I agree.
Comments were also made that it's interesting that the best films coming out now are based on comic books - not that all
comic-based films are good, we did make the mistake of seeing Ultraviolet... but Sin City and V for Vendetta were just so amazing!
Interesting casting - we were laughing at John Hurt as the Chancellor (he played a dissident in 1984), and Stephen Rea as a government detective (he played an IRA terrorist in The Crying Game). It seemed like the coolest inside joke, and my best friend feels certain that those particular actors were cast into those roles on purpose.
Hugo Weaving was brilliant, we were comparing his performance with Lon Chaney in Phantom of the Opera. Obviously, his movements weren't as overblown and dramatic as Chany's, but there are definite differences in the acting required in silent films versus modern ones. Hugo was able to convey so much with his voice and actions that I love him even more now.
Only parts of the movie that didn't ring true for me were the last hand to hand fight V was in (just seemed too over the top to me) and the romance bit (it seemed forced and a bit out of place).
I'm definitely going to pick up the graphic novel - I have
to read it now!

|Fic - Dog Fancy: Sirius Learns the Truth (NC-17)
Dog Fancy: Sirius Learns the TruthCharacters:
Remus/Padfoot(Sirius), James, PeterSummary:
Sirius wants Remus, but Remus still wants Padfoot... and James and Peter aren't the only ones that notice something odd is going on. Rating:
NC-17, slash Kinks/Warnings:
Animagus!bestiality, rimming, felching (of a sort), just generally filthy Word-count:
All characters property of JKR, making no money off this, and if JKR really
wants it she can have it. In fact, I'll be quite shocked and amused if she does
want it... Oh, and I don't mean to piss off anyone with Dog Fancy
magazine (a purely innocent pet hobbyist publication) either... I just like the name.Beta: carvedwood

Whew! Finally got this finished after it sat for ages
on my hard drive, half completed. Thanks to all the people who read and commented on parts 1
, which really should be read first if you haven't read them already.( Dog Fancy: Sirius Learns the TruthCollapse ) Current Mood: accomplished

|Snupin fantasy fest
So, this whole thing is kind of freaking me out... two people asked for plots that are close to two WIP's I started last Spring when I first began writing. I guess
great minds think alike, yeah?shaychana -- S becomes Animagus, horrified & embarrassed to find that his Animagus form is a wolf. Uptight!S, humour, snark, repression, UST, denial, wolfsex. S seduced by R, but no alpha!R.
This is pretty much the plot for my fic The Beast in Me
, except for the "no alpha!Remus" bit... I have Severus worrying/fantasizing about Remus as his alpha, but Remus doesn't act like that so much IRL. There is one very large plot point that isn't
in the promp, but I'm keeping it secret for now as it's a plot twist for the fic.stoicstella -- Snape and Lupin must (direly) bring Sirius back through the veil, time frame (during or post war) up to you, excessive plot encouraged, threesome bonus (and rewarded with squees).
Not quite so close to the plot, but still similar to my ideas for The Shadow of Love
, follow-up to The Beast in Me
. After things didn't work out as planned in The Beast in Me
, Albus gives Severus a new assignment: bring Sirius back. Remus is unhappy with the whole situation, Sirius comes back with a very different attitude, and Severus ends up taking pity on Sirius. And yeah, it would definitely
end with a threesome!
I keep telling myself I'll get these done before the end of the year, but at the rate I'm going I'll be lucky if I can finish them before JKR gets book 7 out.

|Kill me now
I left my television on the Fox network - I had been watching Simpsons reruns - and made the mistake of not turning the channel before American Idol came on. So I walk back into the room, and one of the contestants is singing a Patti Smith song.
A Patti Smith song.
On American Idol.
After the Sex Pistols boxers and disposible cock rings at K-Mart, I'm certain the world is coming to an end.
(I quickly changed the channel to BBC America, Monty Python is the only thing that can save me now!) Current Mood: uncomfortable
